Are We Living Through the Garabandal Prophecies?
A little known Marian apparition from 1961 to 1965 suddenly has people talking
My wife read me parts of an article on the Garabandal Prophecies last week.
What struck me most at the time was the coincidences involving the death of Pope Benedict XVI. Dr. Taylor Marshall might have mentioned the Garabandal Prophecies when discussing a coincidence in the timing of Benedict’s death on December 31, 2022.
Pope Sylvester was the pope who converted Constantine at which point Christendom—the unity of Church and state—was born. Pope Sylvester’s feast day is December 31, the day he died.
Benedict is the only pope to have died on Sylvester’s feast day. And Benedict was arguably the pope when Christendom ended. Why is this important?
Doctor Marshall explains that Pope Benedict wrote and spoke about “the withholder,” a person who was holding back the emergence of the Antichrist. Not of some antichrist, but THE Antichrist.
Marshall raises the possibility that the “withholder” was a person, but a person in the form of the pope—and the pope of Christendom.
Now, Benedict is gone and Christendom is over. We are in a secular age in a world unlike any other. Remember that at the time of Sylvester and Constantine, the word of God had been spreading. But for about the past 60 years, the word of God has been in retreat, just as Christendom was in retreat since the rise of secular Western states. We have never been in this situation before. Instead of increasing graces, we are faced with a future of diminishing graces.
In other words, it don’t get no better than this . . . and it’s bound to get far worse. You can see Dr. Marshall’s wonderful examination of what Benedict’s death portends here:
Now comes the Garabandal Prophecies. According to the website Catholic Stand:
A number of world events are coinciding in these times that seem to confirm that the fulfillment of the prophecies of Garabandal is at hand. In short, the prophecies refer to a period of tribulation for the world during which a Warning will be given to all of mankind simultaneously. Within a year of the Warning, a Miracle will occur in Garabandal which will leave a visible sign for all to see. Following the Miracle, if humanity still fails to turn to the Lord, there will be a fearful Chastisement on a global scale.
There’s the crux of the prophecy right there: a warning, a miracle, and chastisement. But when?
According to one of the seers of Garabandal, Our Lady told her the exact date and time which she may reveal to the world eight days before the warning. It will occur at 8:30 p.m. Garabandal time between the 7th and 17th of month (excluding those dates) in March, April, or May following the death of the “last pope.”
Yes, according to Our Lady’s message in 1962, there would be three popes after John XXIII, who was pope at the time. Our Lady added there would be a fourth pope, but his pontificate would be too short to count. (Pope John Paul I died 33 days after he was elected.)
The popes since John XXIII were:
Pope Paul VI
Pope John Paul II
Pope Benedict the XVI
So, what about Bergoglio?
Two possibilities:
Without Christendom, the pope doesn’t count.
Jorge Bergoglio’s election and papacy are invalid.
The first possibility seems like too convenient an explanation to justify the prophecy. But the second holds water.
Church law prohibits members of the College of Cardinals, which elects popes, from voting, nominating, or planning the election of a future pope outside the conclave. Any such conversation would render the guilty cardinals’ votes invalid.
Several cardinals involved in the conclave that elected Bergoglio have admitted they schemed to win his election in advance of the conclave. They named their little den of thieves “the Sankt Gallen Mafia,” after the Swiss town where they held their illicit meetings to steal the papal election. The groups origins go back to 1995 when they first met to find a successor to John Paul II. Dr. Marshall wrote in his book Infiltration:
As early as 1995, prominent cardinals began to assemble regularly in Sankt Gallen, Switzerland, to politick for the successor of John Paul II. These were all Modernists who favored the spirit of Vatican II. What bound them together was their allegiance to the Jesuit cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, archbishop of Milan. Cardinal Martini was the most prominent and outspoken opponent of Pope John Paul II and his prefect for doctrine, Cardinal Ratzinger.1
Marshall describes what happened in those meetings in the mid-90s:
Even though their leader, Cardinal Martini, was their most obvious choice for pope, he was Italian and did not have the support of the global bishops. So, the Sankt Gallen group examined the College of Cardinals and chose Jorge Cardinal Bergoglio of Argentina as their chief candidate, knowing that he would pursue the theological and moral agenda that they advocated.2
The Sankt Gallen Mafia’s plans were thwarted in the conclave following the death of John Paul II. Their arch enemy, Cardinal Josef Ratzinger, was elected. And the Sankt Gallen Mafia immediate went about the work of driving Ratzinger to resign.
They succeeded in ousting Benedict. And they expanded their web of deceit, drawing in more cardinals to select Benedict’s replacement.
These are all facts admitted to by members of the Sankt Gallen Mafia with no fear of reprisal. On earth. But who knows what their rigged election means in the heavens. While I won’t declare the Seat of Peter vacant, I also won’t die on the hill of its valid occupancy. It’s possible that Bergoglio is not and never was the pope, that the cardinals he appointed to the College of Cardinals, too, is illegitimate in God’s eye, and, therefore, the Seat of Peter is vacant and cannot be filled.
But the Church goes on.
And the Church will be our only refuge if the prophecy we’re concerned with is valid.
Today, Dr. Marshall discussed the prophecy and its implications with an expert on the subject, Glenn Hudson.
