URGENT: Pray Pope Francis Doesn't Screw This Up Like Everything Else He's Done
Pope Francis seems to believe he knows better than God
When I was a little kid, I wanted to make oatmeal raisin cookies for my dad. It was a Sunday, and mom and dad were at Mass. I climbed up on the counters to pull down the ingredients, following the instructions on the back of the Sunkist Raisins box.
To my surprise, the recipe called for a quarter teaspoon of salt. I didn’t expect to find salt among the ingredients for cookies, but who am I to judge? Besides, my dad loved salt. He even salted his peanut butter sandwiches.
So I added two teaspoons of salt. It made complete sense to me. Dad likes salt, the recipe called for salt, so a little more salt would only make them better.
The cookies tasted like Play-Doh.
My dad pretended to love them, but my sisters were honest. My mom threw them out after my dad ate two.
Francis Fudges the Recipe
It all seemed too good to be true.
Last week, Pope Francis announced he would consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in obedience to God. I reported:
In that original post, I expressed hope that Francis would order all the bishops of the world to join in the consecration, as Our Lady instructed at Fatima:
The moment has come when God asks the Holy Father to make, in union with all the bishops of the world, the consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart, promising to save it by this means. So numerous are the souls which the justice of God condemns for sins committed against Me, that I come to ask for reparation. Sacrifice yourself for this intention and pray.
As if by the hand of God, the next day the Vatican confirmed that Pope Francis would, indeed, invite all the bishops in the world to join in the consecration.
Ninety-three years after Our Lady told Sr. Lucia that God (not Our Lady, but God) asks the pope and all the bishops to consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart, and after eight failed attempts by seven popes to fulfill the command, it seemed the unlikeliest of popes would perform this simple act of humility. It seemed too good to be true.
That’s because it was.
On Sunday, the pope changed his mind. Or, more likely, he decided he knows better than God.
Rather than simply obeying the Lord’s request, Pope Francis he would repeat the error of John Paul II by consecrating “humanity” to the Immaculate Heart.
Pure hubris.
I’m sure Francis thinks he’s doing a good thing, and God will, no doubt, dispense some graces through Our Lady. But I believe God knows better than Pope Francis.
Believing we can do better than God is the height of hubris. Lucifer thought he could do better than God. Adam and Eve thought they knew better than God. Every time I sin, I believe I know better than God.
And now we have a pope who believes he knows better than God, trying to improve on God’s recipe.
If Francis Screws This Up, There’s Hell to Pay
You might be thinking, “so what? We’ve gone this long without obeying God, why is this error worse than those before.”
First of all, Russia is in a land war in Europe. Putin has put his nuclear command on its highest alert. The US president it a demented idiot. Need I go on?
Pope Pius XI should have performed the consecration immediately, but he didn’t. We had time. The popes that followed should have picked up the slack. They tried, by but they all failed. They all changed the recipe to make it even more pleasing than what God asked for.
But, now, we are on the verge of World War III. The world has backed Russia in an atomic corner. The table is set for nuclear war.
This seems to be man’s last chance to resolved Russia’s error by consecrating the country to Mary’s Immaculate Heart. It seems like now or never. The consequences of Francis screwing this up seem catastrophic, as Life Site News describes:
Sr. Lucia was very insistent that catastrophe for the world would ensue. In a 1957 interview with Fr. Augustine Fuentes, Lucy, the only surviving visionary of Fatima, said, “Tell them, Father, that the Blessed Virgin said repeatedly – to my cousins Francisco and Jacinta, as well as to me – that many nations would disappear from the face of the earth, that Russia would be the instrument of chastisement from Heaven for the whole world if the conversion of that poor nation is not obtained beforehand.”
I don’t know what that sounds like to you, but, to me, it sounds like the annihilation of many nations would be launched from Russian soil. And, while we can’t see the future, we can look into the abyss and decide to turn back rather than dive in.
Francis, no doubt, wants to turn back from the abyss. He went to the right source—Our Lady of Fatima. He went to the right command. But he seems bent on doing it his way instead of God’s way.
And for that error, we might be close to the last installment of Hennessy’s View. And everything else on this earth.
Pray for the Conversion of Pope Francis
This is no time to get mad at the pope. I tried that when I read the news, and it didn’t work.
All we can do is pray that Francis has a conversion of heart, that he defers to Our Lady’s recipe instead of his own. Extra salt here will ruin the batch. So, we pray.
And, thanks be to God, we have been given a prayer from Bishop Athanasius Schneider to say every day until the consecration.
Preparatory Novena prayer for the Consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
O Immaculate Heart of Mary, Holy Mother of God and our most tender Mother. Look down upon the distress in which the Church and all humanity finds itself due to the spread of godlessness, materialism and the persecution of the Catholic Faith, errors of which you warned in Fatima. You are the Mediatrix of all graces. Obtain for us the grace that all the bishops of the world, in union with the Pope, may consecrate Russia and Ukraine to Your Immaculate Heart on March 25, 2022. By this consecration we hope – as you told us in Fatima – that, at a time appointed by God, Russia will be converted, and mankind will be granted an era of peace. We hope that by this consecration, the triumph of Your Immaculate Heart will soon draw near and the Church will be authentically renewed in the splendor of the purity of the Catholic Faith, the sacredness of the liturgy and the holiness of the Christian life. O Queen of the Holy Rosary and our most tender Mother, turn Your merciful eyes toward the Pope, the bishops and each of us, and graciously hear our fervent and trusting prayer. Amen.
