Pope Invites All Bishops in the World to Join Consecration of Russia to Immaculate Heart of Mary
Our Lady of Fatima's 3-part instruction appears to be complete. Consecration to occur at 11:00 a.m. CDT on the Solemnity of the Annunciation of Our Lord, March 25.
As we reported earlier, Pope Francis announced he will consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary at 5:00 p.m. Rome Time (11:00 a.m. CDT) on Friday, March 25, 2022. The immediate reason for this consecration is, of course, the war in Ukraine. But the overriding reason is the message of Our Lady of Fatima. And the date is crucial.
On March 17, we reported the news of the annunciation and Bishop Athanasius Schneider’s call for all bishops to join the Holy Father.
We immediately heard from readers that the pope’s plan was defective. Our Lady gave Sr. Lucia very specific instructions:
The moment has come when God asks the Holy Father to make, in union with all the bishops of the world, the consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart, promising to save it by this means. So numerous are the souls which the justice of God condemns for sins committed against Me, that I come to ask for reparation. Sacrifice yourself for this intention and pray.
Let’s break that down.
First, it was not Mary, but God, who requests the consecration. This is important. Mary is a creature, but God is the Creator, the Father, who transmits His message through Mary, just as He transmitted Christ, the Son, into the world through her. Thus, the “ask” of the consecration rises to the level of God’s “ask” of Moses to build the Ark of the Covenant. It’s an ask you can’t refuse.
The next part of the statement is, “in union with all the bishops of the world.” This is the part that was missing in the pope’s original announcement. This condition, coming before the actual ask, must be taken as instrumental, not an afterthought. The phrase is not a “nice to have” tacked on after the important part “consecrate Russia,” but a condition to be met. We’ll see how the pope intends to meet this condition in a moment.
Next comes the hard request: “the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart.” According to the papal announcement, Pope Francis intends to do exactly that: consecrate Russia (and Ukraine) to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Not to Mary Queen of Peace or Our Lady of Sorrows or any of her other many splendid titles. But, thanks be to God, he will follow her instructions on this.
Finally, the promise: “promising to save it by these means.” What does “it” refer to? It could be Russia, but it could also be the world.
Several popes have sort of, kind of tried to enact this consecration in the past. But none of those past attempts met the simple, exact requirements Our Lady gave us. Most recently, Pope John Paul II consecrated the world to her Immaculate Heart, and Russia is part of the world. But Our Lady’s formula was specific. Imagine if your wife asked if you love her and you said, “Baby, I love all women.”
Now we learn that the pope has, indeed, invited all the bishops in the world to join in the consecration at the appointed time. Mateo Brunni of The Holy See Press confirmed on March 18 that the pope will issue a letter to all the bishops in the world inviting them to join him in the consecration.
It’s amazing that it’s taken this long (not to mention a war) for a pope to actually follow the simple instructions of Our Lady. They are:

Not, “consecrate the world, of which Russia is a part,” nor “if you’d like, invite some other bishops to the ceremony.” It was simple instruction with no equivocations or options.
What’s even more shocking to some (including me) is that Francis is the one to finally listen to his mother. To my knowledge, all the popes in my lifetime have carried a strong devotion to Our Lady. And they believed the secrets of Fatima to be legit. Why didn’t they obey?
Then again, who cares. The pope finally listened to this instruction from Our Lady, even if he doesn’t always obey her first instruction: “Do whatever He tells you.”
Before closing, you might be wondering, “what happens if the pope and the bishops don’t consecrate Russia?” Well, she told us, via The Jerusalem Post:
Mary stated that if the request were not granted, Russia would spread “its errors throughout the world, promoting wars and persecution of the Church.”
Mary added, “The good will be martyred. The Holy Father will have much to suffer. Various nations will be destroyed.”
I guess we can count Ukraine as one of those nations.
Finally, why is March 25 so important?
First, March 25 is the Solemnity of the Annunciation of Our Lord. The Annunciation celebrates the moment St. Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her she would be the mother of God.

Preparatory Novena prayer for the Consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
O Immaculate Heart of Mary, Holy Mother of God and our most tender Mother. Look down upon the distress in which the Church and all humanity finds itself due to the spread of godlessness, materialism and the persecution of the Catholic Faith, errors of which you warned in Fatima. You are the Mediatrix of all graces. Obtain for us the grace that all the bishops of the world, in union with the Pope, may consecrate Russia and Ukraine to Your Immaculate Heart on March 25, 2022. By this consecration we hope – as you told us in Fatima – that, at a time appointed by God, Russia will be converted, and mankind will be granted an era of peace. We hope that by this consecration, the triumph of Your Immaculate Heart will soon draw near and the Church will be authentically renewed in the splendor of the purity of the Catholic Faith, the sacredness of the liturgy and the holiness of the Christian life. O Queen of the Holy Rosary and our most tender Mother, turn Your merciful eyes toward the Pope, the bishops and each of us, and graciously hear our fervent and trusting prayer. Amen.
