Most-Vaccinated Counties Have Highest Covid Infection Rates
Miami-Dade Florida and New York City have high vaccination, high infection rates, and very different mandates
When you compare vaccination rates for 12+ year-olds to the current pandemic maximum in infections, you find an interesting correlation: the higher the vaccination rate, the higher the case rate.
This is true for counties in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and DC. But it’s also true in Miami-Dade, Florida. The difference between the northeastern states and Florida is mask mandates. Florida has none; New York has a statewide mandate and New York City has even stricter mask mandates. Another difference: New York City has a universal “mark of the beast” vaccine mandate, while Florida has outlawed vaccine mandates.
And, yet, despite these radically different approaches to mandates, Miami-Dade and New York City. have similar case rates per 100,000 people.
The graphics below, from New York Times Covid tracker, compares vaccination and case rates of Miami-Dade, Florida, and New York, NY.
As. you can see, New York and Miami-Dade have nearly identical vaccination rates, especially for 12 and older. Now, the case rates:
Again, nearly identical case rates for two counties with very different approaches to mandates but similar vaccination rates.
These data call into question, not only the effectiveness of the vaccines, but also the effectiveness of any mitigation strategy. Clearly, masking, vaccine passports, and high vaccination rates have no effect on Covid spread. Mandates only increase the amount of human suffering by closing businesses, eliminating jobs, and limiting personal freedom.
When we then compare theses counties to other counties with lower vaccination rates in the same states, we see something even more telling: the correlation between vaccination rates and infection rates.
Lewis County, NY, has a 50% vaccination rate for those 12 and older. Glade County, FL, has a 35% vaccination rate for the same demographic.
