How Catholic Men Must Prepare for the Great Persecution

It is already here, but the worst is yet to come

The Catholic Church is under intense persecution from within and without. Inside and outside, enemies of the Church are everywhere and growing in confidence and power. Just look at the heretical pope and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Once upon a time, before Vatican II, the Church ordained men to the Office of Porter. Among other duties, Porters barred unbelievers from the doors of the church. By doing so, they also barred Satan from entering the mystical Church. That was a powerful and important office established by God originally to protect the Tabernacle. If you’re a Catholic man, don’t wait for the Office of Porter to return. You have to prepare for persecution in the absence of leadership from Holy Mother Church. The enemies within will not provide protection—for the clergy, the worshippers, or even the Holy Sacrifice itself. You might even suspect the enemies within want bad things to happen in church.

Here’s my thoughts on how to prepare for the age of persecution:

Avoid Sin

Sin opens a portal to demons. This doesn’t mean instant demonic possession, which is still very rare. Rather, sin gives demons the username and password to your entire life. Demons can read your hard drive and use your sins, indiscretions, fears, desires, and thoughts against you. This is how they tempt you, discourage you, frighten you, and corrupt you. A man in a state of mortal sin cannot fight demons.

Frequent Sacramental Confession

Confession, properly committed, closes that portal and prepares your for spiritual battle. Moreover, frequent confession—on a calendar—will help you avoid the near occasions of sin. When you know your twice-a-month confession is tomorrow, you avoid adding indiscretions to the list. You loathe the thought of confessing a sin you wouldn’t want to announce to your mother, father, wife, or children. An upcoming confession will keep you free from stains. Form a Safety Team with Other Men

Your parish, oratory, or chapel needs a safety team to protect the people and events of your church. As Catholics, this team must also protect the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Find police officers, lawyers, and military veterans in the parish to guide the team’s training and tactics. Obtain permission and blessing from the pastor or rector, of course. Training and planning should include hand or posture signals that team members use to communicate during Mass.

Men, Guard the Doors

We all have our favorite places to sit at Mass, but we might have to give that up during persecution. Members of the security team need to sit where they can act: near the doors, near the altar. Young, strong, trained men need be on the perimeter to protect the women and children and elderly in the middle. Security team members should know their positions and know the positions of other members. Like it or not, team members need to keep one eye on the other members to see their signals.

During Active Threats, Attend Two Masses

My parish has Sunday Masses at 6:45 a.m., 8:00 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. Attacks are unlikely at the 6:45 Mass, so men need to attend this one for full assistance. They can hang around for the 8:00 Mass to provide additional protection and guard the outside of the church. Likewise, men who attend 8:00 Mass can provide this extra security to the 11:30 Mass. It’s a sacrifice, but it’s necessary during active threats.

Instruct Your Family

If a hostile activity takes place while you’re at Mass with your family, your primary duty is to protect your family—body, mind, and soul. But you might also be called upon to protect more than just your family. That means your wife and children will need to know what to do in an emergency. Your parish security team training and planning should include instructions for the rest of your family. It’s your job to make sure they know the plan and are able to execute when the time comes.

Have Your Head on a Swivel Entering and Exiting the Church

Most of us chat with friends on the way into and out of Mass. Unfortunately, we might need to suppress this fellowship during the persecution. Men need to be vigilant during the transit between car and church. Watch for suspicious people. If you’re a Traditional Catholic, intruders will stick out like a sore thumb: men without jackets, women with out mantillas, shabby jeans, etc. It’s more difficult to tell Antifa from parishioners at Novus Ordo parishes, so you’ll need to know your fellow parishioners by facial recognition.

Remember, You’re In Church

The first order in an attack at church is safety, but the second is reverence. If possible, de-escalate the problem without interrupting the Mass. The perfect response to an attack would mean the priest would learn about it only after Mass—he would have no sense of the problem while doing his most-important and holy work. For Traditional Catholics, you can count on the priest to continue with the liturgy no matter what happens. That means his life and safety is in your hands. Novus Ordo priests are more likely to respond to an attack by interrupting the sacrifice and giving instructions to the laity.

Protect Body, Mind, and Soul

Antifa and pro-abortionists like to pollute the minds of children with most demonic, evil thoughts and images you can imagine. They will attack the Church by attacking your children, especially their minds and souls. Therefor, removing the attackers from the church sanctuary is a high priority. Removing them quickly and quietly should be goal. But if they run in naked, display hideous images, or shout erotic, pornographic words, you need to shut them down immediately. Once your child sees or hears glorified sin, he will be forever scarred. Do not let your child’s innocence be lost at Mass.

Call on the Angels and Saints

St. Michael the Archangel is always ready for battle. Our Lady’s immaculate heel is always poised to stomp on the head of the serpent. I suggest praying the Rosary on the way to church, adding the St. Michael Prayer at the end. Call to them frequently during the Mass. The physical persecution of the Church is a manifestation of the eternal battle of Satan against God. We are just pawns in this battle.

Say the Rosary Every Day

The Rosary is the gift Our Lady gave to St. Dominic as a sword in the battle for the faith. Use it. Never be with out it. If you’re a Catholic man without a Rosary on your person, you’re like a knight a without a sword—useless. The battle is here, and you are called to the fight. Don’t show up unarmed.
